Greenovia aurea: A Succulent Rosette That Closes Like a Rose
Greenovia aurea, also known as Aeonium aureum, forms layered green rosettes. During summer rest, the leaves can close into a rosebud-like shape and reopen when active growth returns.
- 🌹 Rose-like form: Overlapping leaves create a tightly layered outline.
- 🌿 Seasonal opening: Rosettes spread more widely during active growth.
- ☀️ Summer rest: Heat and dry conditions can trigger a closed, resting form.
Choose Greenovia aurea for a sheltered pot where its seasonal changes can be observed.
Care Tips
Light: Provide bright filtered light or gentle morning sun and shade during intense afternoon heat.
Water: Water after the soil dries while actively growing. Reduce strongly during tightly closed summer rest and resume gradually when growth returns.
Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix in a pot with drainage holes.
Temperature: Protect from frost and freezing weather; bring containers under cover before cold conditions arrive.

Care Instructions
Please visit our Succulent Care info page for more details.
To ensure the health of succulents, it is important to plant them in porous, well-draining soil. Succulents require little watering, but don't like to sit in wet soil. To create an adequate cactus mix, simply add pumice, perlite, or grit to cactus soil to provide the proper drainage.
Allow the soil to dry to the level recommended in the Care Tips above before watering again. Always drain excess water.
Weather Conditions
- When ordering, be mindful that living succulents can freeze. If you live in an area that is below 40°F, please consider purchasing plant until the weather is more suitable.
