Measure soil moisture tension directly in the root zone with the Blumat Digital Moisture Meter. Designed for potting mixes, containers, raised beds, and living soil, this digital tensiometer reads in millibars (mbar) so you can compare moisture conditions, check drybacks, and verify irrigation performance with real data.

Available Options ＋

Meter Only — Base unit for direct soil moisture tension readings.
Meter + Protective Cap — Adds protection for the electronic meter head.

Complete Kit (Meter + Cap + Battery + Coring Tool) — Includes the Blumat Coring Tool (1" wide, 11"+ long) for clean installation with minimal soil disturbance.

How It Works ＋

The ceramic cone equilibrates with the surrounding soil and the meter displays soil moisture tension in millibars (mbar). Lower numbers indicate wetter conditions; the reading rises as the soil dries and water becomes harder for roots to extract.

After installation, allow about 30 minutes for a useful initial reading. Full equilibration can take longer. Once the meter is conditioned, moving it between beds or containers with similar moisture levels can provide a useful comparison within several minutes.

Use the meter to establish repeatable wet and dry reference points, check moisture at root depth, compare different locations in a bed, or verify and fine-tune a Blumat irrigation system.

Important Notes ＋

The electronic meter head is water-resistant, not waterproof. Do not submerge it or expose it to standing water.
The protective cap should not be seated directly into soil. Trapped humidity can damage the meter head.
For best comparisons, pay attention to installation depth, soil contact, and location in the root zone.
