Dendrobium Boonchoo Gold 'Alex 2' is a popular, easy-to-grow, warm-growing hybrid. It is a cross between Den. Sri-Siam and Den. Hawaiian Gold that features tall, upright canes and long-lasting flowers.

  • Light: Bright light is necessary for good blooming. East or West window exposure is ideal, but filtered light is best.
  • Temperature: Warm. The ideal range is 68-86°F (20-30°C). It is highly tolerant of hot daytime temperatures (up to 90°F / 32°C) and requires night temperatures generally above 60°F (16°C).
  • Humidity: Moderate (50% or more). Good air circulation is required.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the potting mix to dry slightly before watering again. Water frequency increases during the summer growing season.

Additional Notes

The 'Alex 2' cultivar features large, showy blooms, sometimes with variable colors from dark to light. Flowers appear on upper mature canes and the plant may bloom several times a year. Keep bare canes intact, as they hold energy for future blooms or growth.
